• Rooksha sweda
Fomentation treatment done with medicated powder kizhi / cloth boluses so as to address the local pain and inflammation
• Udwarthana
Special therapeutic external application using herbal powders, done in initial juncture of treatment course
• Kashayadhara
Decoction prepared of herbal medicines is warmed and poured all over the body in thin streams
• Lepana
Medicinal powder and a suitable liquid media is pounded and warmed to apply as a paste on particular areas. The paste is removed on drying and the process is repeated if needed
• Shamana Snehapana
Internal administration of medicated ghee in progressively increasing dose on the physicians discretion so as to suit the patient
• Abhyanga
External therapeutic application of medicated lukewarm oil done in special therapeutic bed – called paathi, changing the patients position intermittently so as to facilitate whole body application
• Ooshma sweda
Fomentation treatment done for whole body with medicated kashaya as steam in a closed chamber
• Patra Pinda Sweda
Fresh medicinal leaves fried in medicated oil is made into kizhi / cloth boluses. Applies to whole body done instrumenting these boluses after dipping them in warm medicinal oil media.
• Kayaseka
Treatment procedure combining both oleation and sudation, done by pouring continuous stream of healing warm medicated oil all over the body
• Shashtikashali Pinda Sweda
Shashtika Rice cooked in Balamoola kashaya is made into kizhi / cloth boluses. Applies to whole body done instrumenting these boluses after dipping them in warm milk media.
• Vamana
Therapeutic emesis done with appropriate Ayurvedic medicine followed with strict dietary regimens
• Virechana
Therapeutic purgation done with appropriate Ayurvedic medicine followed with strict dietary regimens
• Nasya
Nasal administration of fortified medicinal oil followed by programmed face massage so as to facilitate the absorption and spread of medicine
• Kashayavasthy
Rectal administration of emulsified ayurvedic medicine, similar to enema. Done with strict regulations involving prior sudation and food intake soon after the bowel evacuation
• Anuvasanavasthy
Rectal administration of medicated oil / ghee, similar to enema. Done with strict regulations and done soon after food intake.
